Francis Everton is a somewhat obscure Golden Age author, probably all but unknown to most except for mystery fiction collectors. The writers real name was Francis William Stokes and he was born in 1883. His recurring characters were Inspector George Annesley and Inspector Allport. Unfortunately, this is the extent of out background knowledge and available information on this author. We shall, of course, add anything new that comes to light subsequently. |

Final Word
Once again we are dealing with a writer that time has all but forgotten. Even
though
he was, perhaps, not the most popular author of his era, it is still a shame
that
some of these early crime fiction writers are in danger of being completely
lost.
