Winston Graham, born 1920 and passed away 2003, is best known for his Poldark series, though he did also write Marnie which was the subject of the classic film adaptation by Alfred Hitchcock. He was born in England and when a teenager moved to Cornwall which was to provide the backdrop for his hugely successful Poldark series. The novels were also turned into an equally successful television series. He did have several other novels made into films and was awarded The Order of the British Empire in 1983. The House with Stained Glass Windows was the authors first published novel, printed by Ward Lock in 1934. 1945 saw the debut of Poldark once again published in the UK by Ward Lock. |
